Fishing in Marina Del Rey with Francois Chidaine

Francois Chidaine Sauvignon Blanc

Sometimes, you just have to unleash your inner sailor, get in touch with nature, and love on the ocean a little bit. This is exactly what I decided to do over the weekend, and let me tell you, it felt GREAT. 11 am waiting on Pier 52 with close friends and a bottle of Sauv Blanc. Can you think of a better way to start a Sunday?

We then hit the sea on a chartered boat with old men who looked like they came straight off “Deadliest Catch.” Of course, throw some wine and beer in the mix and we instantly become fishermen buddies.

I chose to pair this fishing experience with Francois Chidaine Sauvignon Blanc because when I think of the ocean my mind goes to a crisp and minerally white from Loire Valley. This frenchie is known for his biodynamic and organic practices and is one of the heavy hitters from Loire Valley. His wines taste close to the earth and this white in particular to the ocean. Notes of wet stone and subtle fruit make this wine the perfect pairing with seafood and hanging out on a boat.
