Christmas with Charles Joguet Clos de la Dioterie

Christmas Wine Charles Joguet

Merry Christmas Grapejuice readers!

For this season’s holiday, I wanted to showcase a wine that is worthy of this glorious day. Pour yourself a glass and you will feel instantly warm and fuzzy inside. Yes, I realize that most wines give you this feeling, but I assure you, this wine is perfect!

This grape juice is 100% Cabernet Franc, from Chinon, France and is one of my personal favorites. Notes of spice, black currant, and anise make for a deep and expressive wine, perfect for all things Christmas: coziness by the fire, family time, and extravagant meals.

Made by Domaine Charles Joguet, Chinon and Charles Joguet are synonymous. Ella Fitzgerald to Jazz. Michael Jackson to Pop. You get the picture. He has created techniques that have become common practice in Chinon. Separating terroirs and separating years, he is the master of single-vineyard.

This wine is pure, traditional, delicate, and lovely. To me, it is just like Christmas day. Happy Christmas to all, and to all, a good night!

Los Angeles Flower District with Chateau La Liquiere Les Amandiers

Los Angeles Flower District with Chateau La Liquiere Les Amandiers

Did you know the Los Angeles Flower District is America’s largest wholesale flower district? Also, that the Flower District’s history dates back to the early 1900s? It is a shame that it goes mostly unnoticed by Angelenos.

Do yourself a favor and go see this gem nestled in a seedy and forgotten part of the city. It is surrounded by the other countless districts of DTLA: the Fashion District, the Toy District, the Jewelry District, and the Warehouse District.

The wine for this experience would have to be Chateau La Liquiere Les Amandiers Blanc. Yes, this wine has a flower on the label.  Coincidentally it has a nice floral aroma, it is med-bodied and just easy to drink. Flowers can look pretty, smell pretty, and now taste pretty.

This grape juice is 30% Roussane ; 25% Grenache blanc ; 20% Terret ; 10% Viognier ; 10% Bourboulenc ; 5% Marsanne

Bath time with Allimant Laugner Cremant d’Alsace Rose

Allimant Laugner Cremant d’Alsace Rose

Treat yourself.  Relax.  You deserve it.  The Telegraph reported in 2010 that stress can increase the risk of death five-fold.  That shit is real.  Stress equals death.  If you stop taking life so seriously for approximately 45 minutes and channel your inner two year old you are five times more likely to be stress free.  My suggestion is a bubble bath with a glass of Allimant Laugner bubbly.

This is produced in Alsace by the same method they use to make champagne and grapes consist of 100% Pinot Noir. This Crémant is aged 11 months before release and is meant to be consumed while fresh and young. And to top it off, it is a super great value.

YUM.
